Big Book: Mid-Autumn Festival

We have read the next book on Mid-Autumn Festival and it has been a delight to see the kids make predictions about what might be presented next in the text. They were able to point out interesting details in the illustrations and we were able to link it to real life as well.

Some of the questions asked and the kids' answers:

1. Why are there several stalls selling the same thing?

( This competition allows the customers to pick the best bargain.)

2. Why are some pomelos stacked on the table and some hung up?

(There is not enough space on the table; they are separated by their size/price/ripeness.)

We also learnt a new word: Bazaar

(noun) a street or place where there are many small shops

In Singapore, a bazaar is sometimes referred to as a night market (pasar malam).
