Class Writing: First Day of School

The kids learnt about personal recounts wrote about their first day of school. As we were writing, we also learnt to:

1. Write in first person (using first person pronouns 'I' and 'we').

2. Use simple past tense.

3. Start with a capital letter and end with a full stop.

4. Use words in our Spelling List.

*There's an error in the class writing, I wonder if the kids are able to pick it out as they read it again? 😆 I rewrote it as I wanted a piece that is more presentable (nicer handwriting). Will see if the kids managed to pick it out in class later! *

The kids then worked with a partner and attempted to write a similar piece as well. We then picked a few to talk about and edit them to make them better. We also used a checklist to remind us of what to check for in our writing.

All these led to them doing their individual writing where they had to write about a family activity. Some of them were able to do it quickly on their own as they started getting the hang of writing. Whenever they need help with spelling, they will bring their word bank book to me and we would write the words in their book.
