Grammar: Nouns and Linking Verbs

We had our Grammar lesson yesterday and today, where we talked about Nouns and Linking Verbs.

Nouns

We played the identifying game where we tried to figure out which word in the sentence is a noun. Then, we took turns to give a noun and the rest of us grouped them into the categories: 'People', 'Places' and 'Things'.

.
In our Stellar worksheet (p. 5), we decided that the word 'seas' is a place, so we cancelled the word out from our answer. Parents, please help me check if your child has cancelled it, we initially placed it under 'things'.

Linking Verbs (Part 1)

We were introduced to a boy called Zack, and he needed help with his writing.

The kids were fast to tell me the words that were missing, and helped Zack to edit his work. They did a similar exercise in their Stellar worksheet (p. 7) where they edited Jack's work. Jack is Zack's twin brother. 😆

The children learnt that these words are called linking verbs:

We have only talked about the most common ones: 'is', 'are', 'am'.

We will recap and learn deeper about nouns and linking verbs in subsequent lessons. 😄
