Group 6 Phonics, Book Sharing

We went back to Magic 'e' again today (this obsession is real 😅) and since they wanted more of Magic 'e', we tried our hand at doing spelling! So I gave them words that have Magic 'e' in them and got them to spell on their whiteboards. Most of them could get it, but most were stumped on:
'huge'

The 'g' sounds like 'j' and they got confused. I don't have a clever way to help them with this yet, except to get them to read more and look at words more.

And finally I rectified yesterday's learning of 'above' as a preposition, and the kids finally learnt to spell 'smooth' correctly. That was the glaring mistake from yesterday's activity. I hope they can remember!

This week's book sharers:

Last week's book sharers:

I'm very glad that the quality of the book sharings are improving, and the audience has picked up how to ask good questions, I'm really happy! The audience asked questions that were related to the story, as well as related to the sharer:

e.g. Why do you enjoy this book?
What happened in the end?
Why was the grandmother sick?
How did the robot talk?

I hope the quieter kids in class would step up, and we can hear from all the kids!

P/s An update on the selection of leaders, I intend to conclude it next Friday, and the kids can have the 1 week March hols to deal with disappointment when they are not selected. Hope parents can help as well 🙏

A new journal prompt was given today as weekend homework too :)
