We started using our Word Bank Book and recorded some of the vocabulary in our books. Some of the children missed out numbering some pages and had to re-number them, so they might have missed out some words that we wrote as a class. These are the words that we decided to keep in our book:
again
animals
come
fine
hurry
late
open
said
sweet
We also learnt more about singular and plural nouns, and the 3 rules that we follow when changing a noun from singular to plural.
Rule #1: Add -s
Rule #2: Add -es when noun ends with s, sh, x, o or ch
Rule #3: When noun ends with y, change y to i and add -es
However, we also learnt that English is such a funny language, there are always exceptions and we have to just remember them.
Rule #4: When the noun ends with f or fe, we change them to v and add -es.
These rules can be found in the reference book, "About Grammar: Basic Reference Book", p. 7 - 10.
I will not be asking the students to bring this book to and fro to reduce the weight of their bags.
Instead, this will be enrichment for them, to be done at home with their parents.
The answer key is at the back of the book.
However, I will still continue to make reference to this book in my blog and use it in class (using my copy) whenever I see necessary.
So for today, the homework for the children, will be to read and try out p 7 - 10 of the Grammar Reference Book (Only p9 needs to be done). For those who left them in class, I have asked them to bring it home.
To be kept at home please. This would be great for their revision at home.
Parents are to mark or students are to self-check their answers. I will be doing a quick testing in class using the same questions in class tomorrow, to check on their understanding.
P/s I have one book left behind that has no name on it. Please let me know if your child has brought to school and did not receive his/hers back today.
Thank you!
