The focus of today's lessons were on adjectives again, as from the last class worksheet I noticed some of them had trouble identifying the right words as adjectives.
We talked about how we remember what adjectives are, and Lorene shared that we should use our five senses. So if a word says something about how a thing looks, smells, sounds, feels and tastes, it would be an adjective.
The kids went around the class to describe the things around the classroom.
I found a video online that has a quiz on identifying adjectives and they used their whiteboards to write their answers. They were able to do so with much better accuracy. Though there was one word that stumped them: above
Sentence: The eagle flies above the clouds.
The word 'above' could be used as a preposition, adverb or adjective. The Youtube video I found as a learning resource did not label it correctly, it labeled it as an adjective, but over here it should be a preposition instead. I would be going through with the kids again on this tomorrow, as some kids got confused about it. We used the process of elimination and labelled it as an adjective, so I would need to re-teach this portion.
Thank you parents for continuously supporting this class blog, I do enjoy writing it as it helps me reflect on my teaching as well. Please feel free to give me feedback, share resources or lesson ideas, I welcome them all. :)
I do enjoy reading your blog, Mrs Soh. Felt like I’m in your class, learning together with my boy. Thank you for your effort in updating the blog in such a detailed way, even you’re always in endless meetings, really appreciated it!
