Word Bank Book

Dear parents, you might have seen that for EL homework, we have English Journal and Word Bank Book.

What is a Word Bank Book?

It is like a personal dictionary that contains a wide range of commonly used words and space for students to record their own words.

I noticed that the kids had been asking me over and over the spelling of the same few words when we were doing writing practice, so why not keep a record so that they have something that they can refer to whenever they need?

I realise we have an extra exercise book, the 3-lined one, in the list of books that we have for English. So we will be using that as our Word Bank Book.

This is the contents page that I have created. I'm not sure if all exercise books have the same number of pages, I counted 74 pages in mine.

I have asked the kids to number every page, page 1 being the contents page where the above will be pasted in their book. Below is an example of where I would like the kids to label the letter. For letters X, Y and Z, they will share 2 pages as there aren't many words starting with these letters. Same for V and W.

While they are reading during the holidays, they can already start to add in some words into their Word Bank. Those words can be the ones they want to keep, or ones that they would like to use in their writing.

In addition, there are some Art and Music activities on SLS that they may want to work on during this March Holidays.

Hope you have a fun and enjoyable time with your little ones! 😄
